Calcium formate is the calcium salt of formic acid. This compound is synthesized through the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide, or formaldehyde with calcium compound in an aqueous solution. Widely utilized across various industries, calcium formate serves as an aggregate in cementitious building materials and as an additive for oil emulsion processing.
Properties:Slightly hygroscopic with a slightly bitter flavor, calcium formate is neutral, non-toxic, and water-soluble. Its aqueous solution remains neutral, with solubility that varies minimally with temperature: 16g/100g water at 0ºC and 18.4g/100g water at 100ºC.
Construction/Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
In construction, calcium formate acts as a cement rapid solidification agent, lubricant, and early strength agent for building mortar and various concrete types. It accelerates cement hardening, reducing setting time. Particularly valuable in winter, it mitigates slow condensation due to low temperatures. As an early-strength agent, it expedites cement stripping and enhances its early intensity, allowing for quicker utilization. Even in summer, applying 0.3-0.5% calcium formate yields significant early-strength benefits.

As a contemporary feed additive, calcium formate boosts livestock and poultry weight. For piglets, incorporating calcium formate into feed enhances appetite and reduces diarrhea rates. Ideal for cementation in oil drilling.
Serves as an additive for petroleum and natural gas exploration, and is effective in well completion and oil drilling cementation.
