Calcium formate, the calcium salt of formic acid, is synthesized through the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide, or formaldehyde with calcium compounds in an aqueous solution. Renowned for its versatility, calcium formate is utilized as a crucial aggregate in cementitious building materials and as an additive in oil emulsion processing.
Properties:Calcium formate exhibits slight hygroscopicity and a mildly bitter taste. It is neutral, non-toxic, and readily soluble in water. Its aqueous solution remains neutral. The solubility of calcium formate is relatively stable across temperatures, with 16g dissolving in 100g of water at 0ºC, and 18.4g at 100ºC.
Construction/ Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
In the construction industry, calcium formate serves as a cement rapid solidification agent, lubricant, and early strength agent. It accelerates cement hardening, significantly reducing setting times. Particularly effective in winter, it prevents slow condensation due to low temperatures. As an early-strength agent, it ensures quick cement stripping and achieves early cement strength, readying the material for use sooner. The demand for calcium formate increases with lower temperatures, but even in summer, a 0.3-0.5% addition delivers a marked early-strength benefit.
Feed Grade Calcium Formate
As an innovative feed additive, calcium formate enhances livestock and poultry weight gain. When included in piglet feed, it stimulates appetite and reduces diarrhea rates. Incorporating 1.5% calcium formate in the diet during the first weeks post-weaning increases piglet growth rates by over 12% and improves feed conversion rates by 4%.

Ideal for cementation in oil drilling.
Serves as an additive for petroleum and natural gas exploration, and is effective in well completion and oil drilling cementation.
