Calcium Formate is the calcium salt of formic acid, crafted through the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide or formaldehyde with calcium compounds in an aqueous solution. This versatile compound serves multiple purposes: as an aggregate for cementitious building materials and as an additive for processing oil emulsions, among other applications.
Properties:Slightly hygroscopic with a mildly bitter flavor, Calcium Formate is neutral and non-toxic. It is soluble in water, with a neutral aqueous solution. Its solubility remains nearly constant with temperature changes, dissolving 16g/100g in water at 0ºC and 18.4g/100g at 100ºC.
Construction/Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
In construction, Calcium Formate acts as a rapid solidification agent, lubricant, and early strength enhancer for building mortar and various concretes. It accelerates cement hardening, shortens setting times, and is particularly effective in winter, preventing slow condensation due to low temperatures. As an early-strength agent, it allows for quick cement stripping, enabling the cement to achieve usable strength swiftly. The required amount of Calcium Formate increases as temperatures drop, but even in summer, a 0.3-0.5% addition significantly enhances early strength.
Feed Grade Calcium Formate
As an innovative feed additive, Calcium Formate boosts the weight of livestock and poultry. When used in piglet feed, it enhances appetite and reduces the incidence of diarrhea. In the initial weeks post-weaning, incorporating 1.5% Calcium Formate in feed can increase piglet growth rates by over 12% and improve feed conversion rates by 4%.

Dosage: For dry mortar and concrete, the recommended usage is 0.5-1.0% per ton, with a maximum of 2.8%. As temperatures drop, increase the amount. Even in summer, adding 0.2-0.5% yields early strength benefits. The primary advantage is that it does not corrode steel and is environmentally friendly.
Ideal for cementation in oil drilling.
Serves as an additive for petroleum and natural gas exploration, and is effective in well completion and oil drilling cementation.
Extensively used in the leather industry as a masking agent during the chrome-tanning process.
In tannage formulation, calcium formate ensures faster, more efficient chrome penetration in leather. It can also act as a substitute for formic acid in the pickling process.
