PRODUCT INFORMATION
Calcium formate is the calcium salt of formic acid. It is formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide or formaldehyde with calcium compound contained in an aqueous solution. Calcium formate is used, among other things, as an aggregate for cementitious building materials, as an additive for processing oil emulsions.
Properties: Slightly hygroscopic, slightly bitter flavor. Neutral, non-toxic, soluble in water. Aqueous solution is neutral. The solubility of calcium formate does not change much with the increase of temperature, 16g/100g water at 0ºC, 18.4g/100g water at 100ºC.
Construction/ Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
Used in construction as cement rapid solidification agent, lubricants agent and early strength agent, for building mortar and a variety of concrete. It could speed up the hardening of cement, shorten the setting time. Especially in winter, use calcium formate could effectively avoid slow condensation because of the low temperature. As an early-strength agent, it makes cement stripping fast, gives the intensity of cement as soon as possible to put into use. The amount of calcium formate is gradually increased with the decrease of temperature, and even in the summer application of 0.3-0.5% of the amount, will play a significant early-strength effect.
Feed Grade Calcium Formate
As a new feed additives. Feeding calcium formate could weight the livestock and poultry, piglet feed additives with calcium formate, can promote piglet appetite and reduce diarrhea rate. In the first weeks after weaning, 1.5% calcium formate in the feed, piglets growth rate can be increased by more than 12%, feed conversion rate increased by 4%.

Calcium Formate's main function in animal feed.

As a novel feed additive, calcium formate enhances weight gain in livestock and poultry. When included in piglet feed, it stimulates appetite and significantly reduces the incidence of diarrhea. Calcium formate has extensive applications in construction.
It serves as a quick-setting agent, lubricant, and early strength enhancer for cement, expediting the hardening process and reducing coagulation time. This is particularly advantageous during winter construction to mitigate slow condensation at low temperatures. Calcium formate improves cement strength, facilitating immediate utility, and acts as an accelerator for concrete foundations.
Accelerator for cement-based dry mortars.
Dosage: For dry mortar and concrete, the recommended usage is 0.5-1.0% per ton, with a maximum of 2.8%. As temperatures drop, increase the amount. Even in summer, adding 0.2-0.5% yields early strength benefits. The primary advantage is that it does not corrode steel and is environmentally friendly.
Ideal for cementation in oil drilling.
Serves as an additive for petroleum and natural gas exploration, and is effective in well completion and oil drilling cementation.
Extensively used in the leather industry as a masking agent during the chrome-tanning process.
In tannage formulation, calcium formate ensures faster, more efficient chrome penetration in leather. It can also act as a substitute for formic acid in the pickling process.
