Calcium formate, a calcium salt of formic acid, is synthesized through the reaction of carbon monoxide and calcium hydroxide or formaldehyde with calcium compounds in an aqueous solution. This versatile compound serves multiple roles including being an aggregate for cementitious materials and an additive in oil emulsion processing.
Properties:Slightly hygroscopic with a mildly bitter flavor, calcium formate is neutral, non-toxic, and water-soluble. Its aqueous solutions are neutral, and its solubility varies minimally with temperature, dissolving at 16g/100g water at 0ºC and 18.4g/100g water at 100ºC.
Construction/ Industrial Grade Calcium Formate
Widely used in construction as a cement rapid solidification agent, lubricant, and early strength agent, calcium formate accelerates cement hardening and reduces setting time. Particularly beneficial in winter, it prevents slow condensation due to low temperatures, enabling quick cement stripping and enhancing early strength. The dosage increases with decreasing temperature, and even at 0.3-0.5% in summer, it delivers significant early-strength effects.

As an innovative feed additive, calcium formate boosts livestock and poultry weight gain. Specifically, adding it to piglet feed enhances appetite and reduces diarrhea. Ideal for cementation in oil drilling.
Serves as an additive for petroleum and natural gas exploration, and is effective in well completion and oil drilling cementation.
